Portugese and Real Madrid defender Pepe had a dream year in 2016. First he won the Champions League with his club Real Madrid and later in July he won the Euro 2016 Championship with Portugal. Pepe's 12 clearances were more than any team-mate, while he also led the team with three blocks. Pepe was also the catalyst for a number of Portuguese attacks. All in all, Pepe carried Portugal across the finish line with a near-perfect, two-hour performance to deny France against the odds in the final deservedly earning him the man of the match award.
